The day she was born was the day that I figured I need to start doing better about my weekly blogging (that is more like once a month if we are lucky).
A little backstory. I switched doctors because I just felt like another number at this other office. So I went to Nichole and Dr. Prince the last couple of weeks of my pregnancy. At 37 weeks they checked me and told me I was only at "barely a one but really nothing." When we went back at 38 weeks Dr. Prince came in and said that I was maybe a 2 and not really thinned out at all. I was super depressed thinking if I was not that far along then how was I supposed to have a short labor. They also gave me the option to get induced early. I was super nervous to do that because I didn't want to be induced just because I was "done." I don't think as a parent you really get that option. You stick it out and you handle the pain as much as you can. After worrying if she would be as big as Riley, we decided to be induced at 39 weeks and one day. That leads us to the morning of our induction.
We called the hospital at 5:00 and they told us to be in there at 6:30 ready to go. We drove through Mcdonalds and got a quick breakfast (although I was too nervous to eat). We got inside and did a bunch of paperwork/questions. There was no point in pre registration. Dr. Prince finally came in around 8 to talk to us. He said he was going to check me... and it hurt like a mother. Although, a couple seconds later I had to ask because it felt like my water broke, and sure enough he broke it. The one thing I was completely concerned about really was not that big of a deal. I told him I was scared of it and wanted the epidural ASAP. He said with how fast I went with the other 2 then I could have an epidural then before contractions even started. I got the epidural around 830 and then just hung out the rest of the time. When he had broken my water I was a 3 and only 40 % thinned out. When she came back to check me a little later I was only a 5 and 80% thinned out. I thought it was going to be a long day. It didn't help that when I laid all the way down to make sure the epidural worked everywhere I got sick, but then when I sat up the epidural didn't work. I was given zofran finally to help with that. Around noon I told Ren I felt some pressure but wasn't sure what it was. After about 30 minutes I called in the nurse and she checked me. She told me I was a 9 and she was calling Dr. Prince. Shortly later him and Nichole showed up and got all ready. They told me they couldn't see her but they thought I was ready to push. So on the next contraction I pushed for 10 seconds 3 different times On the 3rd time of pushing they had to tell me to stop because she was already out!
They then put her directly on my chest to do skin to skin and we did that for a bit. Ren came over and was by us. I felt so bad That I got to do it and Ren didn't but at the same time I was glad that I was able to do it with her! We probably snuggled her for about 5-10 minutes and then Ren took her over to get weighed and the shots and what not. She weighed 7 lbs 7 oz and was 20 inches long. She got all of her shots at that moment and then Ren brought her back over to me. I fed her (for over an hour) and then let Ren hold her. Shortly later I was able to take a shower and then we were able to switch rooms over to a recovery room.
Random Post that might not mean anything down the road, but our nurse came in and I asked her if I could take some medicine to stay on top of it. She told me to just wait until I was really in pain. So I waited a bit, then I called her back to get some and it took her 45 minutes to come in. Then she would only give me Motrin. Shortly later we called for her to give her a bath and it took her another 45 minutes to come in. Seriously what an idiot. While she was getting a bath Brae and Riley came in to meet her. Brae was a little shy at first and Riley booked It out of there to go with Grandma and leave. We let Brae hold her for a bit and then let everyone else come in. Kiki, Ronnie, Lindsi, and Mallow all came and met her. They stayed for a bit and then went and got dinner and then came back to snuggle the little princess. Brae BAWLED that night to leave. She just wanted to stay by her sister and snuggle her. We made her leave though.
That night was a long night, by the time they came in to check vitals, wake me up to give me my medicine, and she ate, I only got 2 hours of sleep and thought I was going to die! The next morning Kiki brought us Mcdonalds and snuggled Brynlee while we hung out. Then she left and we got a call from the school from Brae crying saying she wasn't feeling good. Kiki went and picked her up and brought her to us. Secretly, I think it was more emotional sadness rather than actually feeling sick. We finally were able to leave about 5:30 and went and got my medicine. (That was a nightmare they messed up on that one) but then we got home took care of Brae saying she was sick, got me my medicine, let brae sunggle brynlee, and just hung out for the night. She honestly has been the most perfect little addition to our family and I wouldn't change it for the world!
